Brick Breaker
How to Play Brick Breaker, and a Few Tips
Bounce the ball off your paddle to clear every brick at the top of the screen and move on to the next wave. Missing the ball costs you a life (shown as a heart), and running out of all 3 ends the game.
Where the ball hits the paddle changes the angle it bounces off at — dead center sends it back almost straight up, while the edges send it off at a much sharper angle.
Drag left or right on the board to move the paddle on mobile, or use the arrow keys (or A/D) on desktop.
Bricks are stacked in 4 rows, and the top row is worth the most — 40, 30, 20, and 10 points from top to bottom, following the classic brick-breaker convention.
The ball speeds up as waves progress. The first wave is the slowest, and it keeps picking up pace wave after wave until it hits a fixed cap.
Every wave hides a multi-ball power-up in 2 bricks and a paddle-grow power-up in 2 others. Breaking one drops the item, and catching it with your paddle applies it instantly.
Multi-ball splits your ball into several at once, letting you clear bricks in multiple directions simultaneously. Paddle-grow widens your paddle for a short while, cutting your risk of missing by a lot.
Catching the ball near the edge of the paddle sends it off at a sharper angle, which is especially useful for clearing bricks tucked into a corner.
The ball speeds up as waves progress, so catching power-ups matters more the further you get.
Score builds up wave by wave, so playing it safe and reliably catching the ball tends to beat rushing and losing it.
Since the top row scores the most, it's worth grabbing a multi-ball power-up and then aiming for the top of the stack first.
